<p>Well, with no significant snow in the forecast for the next week, we have made the decision to postpone the event to our back-up date of March 3rd.</p>
<p>NOTE DATE CHANGE!  The popular and highly anticipated Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe will take place on March 3rd 2012!  Join us at Camp Saratoga for a nighttime ski or snowshoe under a full moon and 2.5 miles of candlelit trails.  We will be starting earlier this year at 6:00 to give families with younger children a chance to come out and enjoy the magic of the Preserve &amp; Park on a moonlit night.  Thanks to our sponsor the Wilton Rotary for their support of this wonderful event. Snowshoe rentals will be available from 5:30pm at $5 a pair.</p>

Join us for a talk with post Master’s  student Andrea Chaloux as we talk about her latest findings in the most recent Blanding’s Turtle study in the Wilton area. Learn about the history and the future behind our For the first hour we will hear from Andrea and get our questions answered by our local expert. The second hour, we will take a walk through our wetland parcel (Neilmann) to discover what Blanding’s Turtle habitat would look like in the winter. Snowshoes will be available for rental: $5 for nonmembers. If there is no snow, the program will take place without snowshoes.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The groomed trails are anything but groomed.  Recent warm weather and rain events have left a surface of solid ice, small ponds, dirt and a bit of hard snow.  The trails are not suitable for X-C skiing now.<br />
There is no way to make this surface usable without the addition of significant snow.   Expect continued deterioration unless a significant (6 inch) snowfall occurs.</p>

<p>Looking to add some outdoor winter activities to your homeschool curriculum?  Bring your kids to Wilton Wildlife Preserve &amp; Park to discover the outdoors and learn about the adaptations that animals in order to survive changes in the winter. The indoor part of this program will be about 30 minutes long and the outdoor part will be about 40 minutes long. Please dress appropriately for weather and insects. <p>If you would like to learn more about Wilton Wildlife Preserve &amp; Park, the Annual Meeting is the perfect opportunity.  There will be short reports on the Preserve &amp; Park&#8217;s past year in conservation, environmental education, and in recreation.  Everyone is welcome.</p>
<p>We are still excited to be celebrating our 15th year as Wilton Wildlife Preserve &amp; Park!  So even though 2011 is drawing to a close, our anniversary year is still a cause for celebration.  Join us for a festive gathering to share in our success not only of this past year, but of the past 15!  The Reception will begin at the close of the Annual Meeting, at approximately 7:00 pm.  Refreshments will be served.</p>

Please dress appropriately for weather and ticks. This program will not take place if there is rain.</div>

<p>What better way to be creative than to make your annual craft in a different way. Join us for a small stroll as we collect things from nature to make our own version of a turkey for Thanksgiving. The stroll will be approximately 20 minutes and the craft will be approximately 40 minutes. This program is for children of all ages. This activity will not take place if there is rain.</p>

<p><strong><em>From the South</em></strong><em>: </em>Take the I87 North to Exit 15. Go north on Route 50 for about four miles. Make a left onto Scout Road. No matter where you go at the Wilton Wildlife Preserve &amp; Park, you will find lots of pines and oaks due to our pine-oak savannah habitat. During this beautiful mile long walk through rich pine-oak forests, we will discuss the different pine and oak species and how they have adapted to various landscapes.
