X-C Ski Trail Update 3-8-2012

There is still a bit of corn snow and sheet ice here and there on the trails even with today’s almost record heat, making them a challenge to walk. However, the meadows are completely snow and ice free with occasional puddles of melt-water. Oh – and mud….

If there is a “freak” spring snow storm with a significant accumulation, we will groom it until April 1st. Then the equipment goes into storage until December.

We expect to continue the tradition of winter ski and snowshoe events next year, and we hope to see you on the trails during the summer months. Don’t forget we have lots of trails at various locations in the area for your enjoyment.

There is always a need for volunteer labor to maintain the trails during the summer months. This can take the form of group workdays on weekends, or a few hours a week at your convenience if and when you can spare the time. Please contact us at info@wiltonpreserve.org or by calling (518) 450-0321

Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe event for 3/3 Cancelled

CANCELLED!

With the unusual winter we have had with the lack of any appreciable snowfall, the trails have become too icy and hazardous to hold the event on the 3rd.

We tried three times this year, but Mother Nature just didn’t cooperate!  Mark your calendars, the next Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe is scheduled for Saturday evening, January 26th, 2013!
