Public Programs

Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park offers a wide variety of outdoor programs that explore different aspects of the natural world. Whether you are an adult, child, or family, we have a program geared for you. Most programs are active and hands-on, involving a hike or a snowshoe walk to explore some of the Saratoga Sandplains ecosystems’ beauty and wonder. Most programs are free to the public, and require registration.

Past programs have included:

Pond Explorations

Moonlight Hikes

Painting Workshops

Nature Arts Hours

Karner Blue Butterfly Walks

Nature Discovery Walks

Preschool Nature Hours

Star Parties… and much, much more.

What do our participants think?

“We started bringing our grandchildren to the Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park when they were quite young and have attended every program we possibly could.  Some outings were Karner Blue Butterfly Walks, Scavenger Hunts, Pond Exploration, and even a Snowshoe Discovery Walk in the woods. Those trips were not only fun outdoor activities but learning experiences where they could identify trees by the type of leaves and the difference between evergreen and deciduous.

When morning programs no longer fit our schedule, we came to the Arts and Crafts program on Tuesday afternoons. We were impressed by the knowledge of the teachers and their enthusiasm in sharing it with the children.  Our grandsons look forward to the arts and crafts class every week, eager to see what each new project will be.  As one grandson told me, ‘I like making art with you’!

Thanks to your programs, the boys have learned so much already about nature and their curious minds will continue to explore the beauty around us.  Thank you!” -Jean & Torben Aabo

“Knowledgeable and pleasant staff. I always learn something new on the Nature on the Move walks. We are so lucky in this area to have such a wonderful natural resource. What a great way to start a day!” - Karen Nelson

“Our three children have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the various opportunities offered at the Preserve. The staff does an incredible job tailoring each visit to provide age-appropriate, educational resources that have bolstered my children's interest in nature. It’s a rare treasure to have a safe place where children can immerse themselves in a natural environment, surrounded by a caring, knowledgeable staff while having fun.” - Ashley Ellis
